''The Creature from Black Lake'' is a low budget 1976 horror film. It is about a Bigfoot type creature that has been reported near a Louisiana town and surrounding swamp area. After local trapper Joe Canton (Jack Elam) reports that his friend was killed by the creature, two Chicago college students load up their van and head off to investigate. Along the way they but heads with the local sheriff who warns them about upsetting the people of the town. Of course they ignore the sheriff and end up finding out the hard way that the creature is real. This is a great 1970's drive-in movie that is superior to many others of the genre. This film was directly influenced by Charles B. Pierce's 1972 classic "The legend of Boggy Creek".
